Dallas County Adds 7 More COVID-19 Deaths, 80 New Cases Thursday – NBC 5 Dallas Fort Worth

Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins and Dallas County Director of Health and Social Welfare Dr. Philip Fan will hold a press conference at 4:00 pm. Thursday. This press conference will be streamed live at the top of this page.
An additional 80 cases were confirmed on Thursday, according to the county authorities, which killed an additional seven elderly people in Dallas County after being infected with COVID-19.
Recent victims were between the ages of 60 and 90, three of whom lived in nursing homes.

“7 more inhabitants died at COVID 19, which calmly reminds me of the cruelty of this pandemic. I’m encouraged by the number of new cases below the average daily number of last week. That’s the daily pattern of the week: we are benefiting from “Safer at Home” and we all need to continue making good choices at our personal responsibility. “If you hurry, you ruin it,” said Crai Jenkins, a Dallas County judge.
Most cases requiring hospitalization were over the age of 60 or had at least one known high-risk chronic health condition. Diabetes is a potentially high-risk health condition reported in approximately one-third of all patients hospitalized with COVID-19. Of the 72 deaths reported to date, approximately one-third are associated with long-term care facilities.
The seven dead contribute to 72 the total number of people in the county who died after being infected. The total number of infections is currently 2,763.
Dallas County has not reported the number of people who have recovered from the virus, saying it is not a monitoring variable used nationally by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or the state’s health department.
