New drive-through corona virus test to open
Pleasanton — Starting Monday, the new COVID-19 drive-through test site will be generally available at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton.
The test center at the fairground is for residents of Pleasanton, Livermore and Dublin who are ill with the virus. The site is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.
In addition to housing requirements, people seeking to take the test must have at least one of the following symptoms or conditions: Shortness of breath or respiratory symptoms; Recent exposure to confirmed or suspected coronavirus; Chronic illness or other medical conditions (diabetes, heart disease, etc.) 65 years or older, homeless or pregnant.
The test site operated by Stanford Health Valley Care is capable of running 150 tests per day, or 750 tests per week. All insurance is accepted on site but there are no pocket costs.
To enter the fairgrounds, use Gate 12 near Pleasanton’s Valley Avenue. Processing test results can take up to 72 hours.
Drive-through sites have already appeared in other East Bay cities. Auckland, Fremont And Hayward, The last few weeks. For the first time in the Bay Area, Hayward’s site can now be screened by anyone who has reached the coronavirus symptom threshold without physician recommendation. The Drive-Through Fremont site does not require a doctor’s note or prior appointment, but it is located at Stevenson Boulevard 7200 and is open daily from 10am to 5pm. In Hayward, the test site is available to anyone with a symptom, located at Carstate East Bay in Carpark A on West Loop Road, open Tuesday to Sunday from 9am to 6pm. Healthcare workers and first responders can call 510-583-4949 to make advance reservations.
Contra Costa County is currently 4 available test sites It is open to the public in Concord, Martinez, Pittsburgh and San Pablo. In Contra Costa County, people who have a fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, and other symptoms can get a free examination by appointment. Call 1-844-421-0804 to schedule an appointment for a medical professional inspection and confidential screening. Telephone screenings are available from 8am to 3:30 pm. Monday through Friday.
