No death from new virus
According to data released by the State Department on Saturday, Arkansas did not see 19 new covid deaths for the second consecutive day.
“Our other numbers are encouraging: the number of new cases is less than 200 [and] An additional 14,700 people have been fully vaccinated and Arkansas is a little closer to protecting the community, “Governor Asa Hutchinson tweeted Saturday.
The state reported 171 new covid-19 cases on Saturday, a slight decrease from 178 on Friday and 217 a week ago. However, the number of hospitalized covid-19 patients increased to 163, the highest in the week. On Friday, there were 160, including 19 new hospitalizations.
According to data from the Ministry of Health, 20 out of 163 inpatients were on ventilator on Saturday, down from 23 on Friday.

In Benton and Plaskey counties, 28 and 26 newest cases were found, respectively. All other counties reported less than 15 cases each.
The state’s death toll remains at 5,661, with no new deaths reported. In Arkansas, there have been a total of 332,053 covid-19 cases since March 2020, with 1,761 cases active on Saturday, an increase of 14 from the previous week.
Meanwhile, the state reported on Saturday that 27,545 vaccinations were given the day after Arkansas reached a milestone of at least 30% of residents aged 16 and over who received at least one vaccination.
The Ministry of Health said Friday that a covid-19 case caused by a more contagious variant from Brazil was first identified in Arkansas last week.
