Pennsylvania COVID-19 cases are stable
Pennsylvania reported new cases of 30,400 coronaviruses in the week ending Sunday, starting at 29,793 the week before the virus that causes COVID-19.
Pennsylvania ranks sixth among the fastest per capita spreads of the coronavirus, according to a USA TODAY network analysis of Johns Hopkins University data. Last week, the United States added 490,277 reported cases of coronavirus. This is an increase of 10.3% from the previous week. Nationwide, 35 states had more cases in the most recent week than in the previous week.
Many states did not report the Easter incident. This makes interstate comparisons inaccurate, and weekly comparisons within states also inaccurate.
Within Pennsylvania, the worst weekly outbreaks per capita occurred in the Wyoming, Bradford, and Monroe counties. Overall, the newest case was added in Philadelphia County, with 4,658 cases. Allegheny County, 2,983 cases. And Montgomery County, 1,938. Weekly cases increased in 36 counties from the previous week. The worst increase from last week’s pace was in the Philadelphia, Allegheny, and Westmoreland counties.

Pennsylvania ranks 11th in the state, with at least one vaccination, and 38.9% of its population has been vaccinated at least partially. The national percentage is 35.9%, as shown by USA TODAY analysis of CDC data.
In the week ending Sunday, Pennsylvania reported receiving an additional 889,673 vaccine doses compared to 874,539 in the previous week. Overall, Pennsylvania reported 7,559,762 doses.
Throughout Pennsylvania, cases declined in 31 counties, the most in Lancaster, Delaware, and Northampton counties.
In Pennsylvania, 220 people were reported dead from COVID-19 during the week ending Sunday. The week before that, 202 people were reported dead.
In Pennsylvania, a total of 1,073,924 people have been coronavirus-positive and 25,393 have died of the disease since the outbreak of the pandemic, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. In the United States, 31,197,873 people are positive and 562,066 are dead.
