More than 700 new cases of coronavirus with 26 deaths
In the Republic of Ireland, another 26 people have died of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours.
The Health Protection Surveillance Center says 23 of these deaths were confirmed by testing.
That means 1,087 Covid-19s have now died in the state since the outbreak of the virus.
As of 1 pm today, there were 701 new confirmed cases of coronavirus, for a total of 19,262 cases.
- As of midnight Friday, April 24 (18,431 cases), the following was revealed.
- 57% are women, 42% are men
- The median age of confirmed cases is 49 years
- 2,576 patients (14%) are hospitalized
- Of the hospitalized patients, 349 are hospitalized in the ICU
- 5,064 cases are associated with healthcare professionals
- Dublin has the highest number of cases with 9,224 (50% of all cases), followed by cork with 11,10 cases (6%).
- Of those with known infection status, community infections account for 63%, close contacts for 33%, and overseas travel for 4%.

- People who have coronavirus symptoms and have been in close contact with confirmed cases for the past 14 days should be isolated from others. Call GP or the emergency department.
