Jacksonville, Florida. — A new Mayo Clinic study shows that the COVID-19 vaccine may not be very effective in organ transplant patients.

He received the first dose of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine in February.
“Before I received that second dose, I was exposed to COVID,” Baldwin said.
Baldwin spent two weeks at the Mayo Clinic.
He was released from the hospital on March 12, but his lungs have not yet recovered.
“I still have a hard time doing things because I have to carry oxygen cylinders everywhere,” Baldwin said.
Dr. Hani Waday said that when his team tested the patient’s blood flow for the antibodies produced by the vaccine, they could only find the antibodies in one patient.
“This indicates that the medications these patients are taking do not allow them to respond normally to the vaccine because of their immune system,” Dr. Waday said. ..
