Nine new cases of COVID, no new deaths in the county | COVID-19
Today, the Indiana Department of Health reported 824 new cases of COVID and 12 new deaths. Of these, nine cases occurred in Howard County, with no new deaths.
The state-wide 7-day positive rate is 4.7%, while Howard County’s positive rate is 4.4%.
Hospitalization continues to increase. As of yesterday, 967 Hoogers were hospitalized with the virus from 931 the day before. In late March, hospitalizations fell to a record low of 548 and have increased since then.
As of yesterday, 184 Hoogers were on the virus and ICU, up from 182 the day before, and 89 were on the virus ventilator, up from 78 the day before.
According to the Regenstrief Institute, states are on the rise in three of the five tracked categories. Positive test, visit to emergency room, ICU admission. The other two categories, hospitalization and mortality trend data, were not conclusive.
Howard County is on the rise with positive tests and visits to the emergency room, and on the decline with hospitalization, ICU admission, and death.
So far this week, one of the residents of Howard County has been hospitalized for the virus and has not been admitted to the ICU.
