80 new COVID-19 cases in the London area on Thursday with reduced hospitalizations
Recent development:

- Ontario reported on Thursday 2,759 new cases of COVID-19 and 31 deaths.

What is the latest status in the London area?
The Middlesex-London Health Unit reported 80 additional cases of COVID-19 in the area on Thursday with no deaths.
90 collections were posted and there were 806 active cases in the area.
Contact tracing has shown that 49 of the latest infections are due to contact with confirmed cases. Five cases were associated with an outbreak, and 13 cases had no known association.
The average number of cases for 7 days is 74, which continues to decrease.
The Health Unit has announced plans to open a fourth COVID-19 vaccination center at the Earl Nichols Recreation Center on May 25.

Declining hospitalization
The London Health Sciences Center reports 63 COVID-19 patients in a local hospital, 33 of whom are receiving critical care. This is down from the May 5 high of 99 patients.
According to the hospital network, 30 of London’s hospital patients come from external health areas, including 7 in acute care and 23 in the ICU.
The virus test is positive and there are less than 5 staff members isolated.
COVID-19 inside and outside the region
According to Southwestern Public Health, Elgin-Oxford has 16 new cases and another COVID-related death. 132 proceedings are underway in the region.
Huron Perth Public Health reported another death and 20 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday. There are 87 active cases in the region, including 30 in South Huron and 22 in Stratford.
In Ontario, 2,759 new cases and 31 deaths have been reported throughout the state. The 7-day average for daily cases drops to 2,731, the lowest in about 5 weeks.
