Lake County, Florida – Public health experts say that parents are somewhat hesitant to get their children vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine.
Almost a week ago, federal regulators vaccinated people over the age of 12 with Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine.
Dr. Paul Offit, director of the Vaccine Education Center at a children’s hospital in Philadelphia, said parents should trust science and data.

“I understand that parents should be skeptical of everything they put into their children’s bodies, but at this point there is enough information to say that this vaccine is safe and effective.” Ofit said.
Joyce Patterson and her 14-year-old son Dayshawn Mims said they were using the vaccine when it became available.
“He was homeschooling and I was scared and wasn’t at home to visit my mother,” Patterson said.
A mother in Lake County accompanied her son’s first dose and said it was another step towards success.
Public health experts say that as more people are vaccinated, the spread of the virus can be difficult.
