Illinois ranks 27th in terms of fully vaccinated residents
It is stated that 37.5% of the residents are fully vaccinated, US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Illinois is ranked 27th out of 50 states.
However, Illinois Public Health Service officials report that 64% of the state’s adult population has been vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine at least once.
According to the CDC, the immunization rate in Maine is the highest at 50.6% of all states. Mississippi is the last with 26.5%.
Meanwhile, another 42 people died from the virus in Illinois, IDPH reported Thursday, and 1,542 cases of new illness were diagnosed. Twenty-two of the dead were in Chicago and Color County, and 20 were in the state.
Since the outbreak began, 22,536 Illinois residents have died from COVID-19 and 1,371,884 have been infected.
Since January 1, 64 fully vaccinated individuals have died from COVID-19 infection, IDPH officials report. This is just under 1.1% of all COVID-19 deaths during that period.
On Thursday, state health officials announced that 89,832 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine had been administered nationwide.
According to data from the Illinois Public Health Service, this brings the total number of vaccines given throughout the state to 10,640,990, which means that 4,935,680 Illinois residents are fully vaccinated.
Across the state, hospital officials reported treating 1,488 COVID-19 patients. Of the hospitalized patients, 404 are in the intensive care unit.
Less than 1,500 people have been hospitalized for COVID-19 in Illinois since April 3.
The average 7-day case positive rate for the entire state is 2.2%, the lowest since March 17. Case positive is the percentage of new cases obtained from a series of tests.
