Plans to reopen school were confused as experts clashed about whether children could pass Covid-19 – Sun

As the government is fighting to open the school by summer, experts have clashed about whether children can take Covid-19.

First, a Swiss researcher said there is no threat of infection because young people do not have the lung receptors targeted by the virus.

However, within 24 hours, a review of Chinese cases and a German study suggested that they were as likely to catch it as adults.

Conflicting research is because the government is facing increasing pressure and the minister wants to restart the classroom before the summer vacation.

Thousands of vulnerable youths can be left behind if school does not somehow reopen immediately.

And many legislators believe that bringing children back to the classroom is essential to kick-starting the tattered British economy by leaving parents free to work.

Still, research only serves to reinforce the minister’s serious question about acting too quickly.

On Wednesday, Switzerland gave Britain a faint hope of early blockade.

Give the NHS Charm of the Sun Now

BRITAIN’s 4 million NHS staff is at the forefront of the fight against the coronavirus.

But who are there to help them while helping them save lives?

Sun has appealed to NHS workers to raise £ 1m. Who Cares Wins Appeal aims to provide critical support to staff when needed.

We’ve worked with the NHS charity to raise funds for an urgent Covid-19 appeal so we can figure out exactly who needs it.

Sun has donated £ 50,000 and we would like to support a £ 1 million donation. No matter how much you can afford, donate here today: www.thesun.co.uk/whocareswinsappeal.

Dr. Koch, head of the Federal Department of Infectious Diseases, told Bern’s reporters that asymptomatic minors could hug their grandparents freely.

He added, “Children are rarely infected and rarely infected with the virus. That is why small children do not pose a risk to high-risk patients or grandparents.”

The study, following a French study, showed that a 9-year-old British boy who caught the virus during skiing did not transmit the virus despite contact with 170 people.

Hope grew even higher when Secretary of Education Gavin Williamson told parliamentarians that children in the fifth, tenth, and twelfth years were considering plans to return to school first.

However, questions were raised about the Swiss study by British medical personnel.

“We are very pleased to announce that Professor Russell Winner, Dean of the Royal College of Pediatrics and Health Care, said:

“I think children probably don’t transmit Covid-19 more than adults.

“But we need to be sure. We need more data, especially because our grandparents are in a vulnerable group.”

The warning is also reflected in a US and Chinese study that examined the close contacts of 1,286 infected 391 people in Shenzhen.

Of these, 7% were infected with the virus. This is the same rate as adults and older children. However, most children showed no symptoms.

The University of Reading, Professor Simon Clark, told the Times: That means we need to be very careful.

“Restarting school increases the risk of the second wave by infecting parents, grandparents, teachers, and anyone they may come into contact with.”

“We are very excited about the success of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.”

“But the honest answer is still unclear in terms of what that means for transmission rates.

“Given the few symptoms, at least I suspect that my cough and sneeze aren’t so exhaled.”

A German study of 3,712 patients last night also found no significant differences between men and women of all ages. “Based on these results, we must be vigilant at the moment for unlimited reopening of schools and kindergartens.”

But Dr. Ebere Okereke of Public Health England added confusion that young children are less likely to be affected and unlike flu, they are less likely to be transmitters.

“Traditionally, we associate children with people who contract respiratory infections. It doesn’t seem to be here, and why is this different? I don’t know.”

“Youth are the safest group to go out”

Russell Viner, adolescent health expert

These reports do not change the debate about whether a child should return to school.

It’s a balance of risks. Keeping students at home can damage their education, create mental health and language problems, and widen the gap between the rich and the poor.

Still, allowing students to return carries the risk of a second pandemic wave if not done carefully.

What we have to do is to bring as many children back into education as possible.

You can split a year group into mornings or afternoons only, or turn a week on and off for a week to reduce social contact.

When the government eases the blockade, perhaps the safest group there is children. Therefore, the minister must plan for school reopening early in the exit.

“Infected children could rise exponentially”

Microbiology Expert Dr. Simon Clark

Increasing evidence suggests that children are as likely to be infected as adults. Therefore, resuming school can lead to a surge in infections.

Although few children suffer from serious symptoms, they can infect each other and their parents, grandparents, and teachers.

The 2009 swine flu outbreak fell like a stone when the school broke up in the summer. Then, within a few weeks of returning to school, there was a second wave of illness.

It is important to say that there is a lot of conflicting evidence. For example, the Swiss government took evidence from scientists and concluded that children under the age of 10 did not get the virus.

But the truth is, we still don’t know much about this virus. I argue that I should be careful.

Gavin Williamson, Secretary of Education, reveals that the school will restart in “stages” and ensure that students and staff have sufficient protection to avoid coronaviruses
