Schedule COVID-19 vaccine reservations for 12-17 year olds in the Waterloo region
Kitcheners-People between the ages of 12 and 17 can book the COVID-19 vaccine from Friday in the Waterloo region.
In a news release, officials said people in that age group would receive notifications recommending that they book a vaccine with their family members aged 12 and over in the same household.
People between the ages of 12 and 17 can receive the Pfizer vaccine, Canada’s only vaccine approved for people under the age of 18.
Reservation notices will be sent to pre-registered residents of the Waterloo region. The notification will also include information about family bookings.
The Vaccine Distribution Task Force has begun booking this age group so that it can receive its first dose by the end of June.

Young people between the ages of 12 and 17 are also eligible to shorten the second dose interval and are fully vaccinated before returning to school in September. Family members who are not in that age range will stay at the usual four-month intervals, officials said.

The area also reminded people outside the 12-17 year old group that it could take 4-6 weeks to receive a booking invitation. Invitations will be sent in the order in which they qualify.
