Six new cases of COVID-19 in NL, including three cases connected to the Newfoundland Central Cluster
Newfoundland and Labrador reported six new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, three of which are connected to a cluster in central Newfoundland, which currently has 49 cases.
Two of the new cases associated with clusters are people under the age of 20, and the other is between the ages of 20 and 39. There are also 11 presumptive positive cases associated with the cluster.
The remaining three cases reported Thursday are one each in the eastern, central and western health areas. The Eastern Health and Central Health cases are travel related and are not connected to a cluster. The Western Health case is under investigation.
The Ministry of Health also reported 10 new recovery Thursdays: 8 in Eastern Health, 1 in Central Health and 1 in Western Health. There are 89 active cases in the state, down from 93 on Wednesday.
Five people are hospitalized for COVID-19, three of whom are in the intensive care unit.
To date, 144,395 people have been tested, including 1,025 since the Wednesday update.
The Ministry of Health said the investigation into the Central Newfoundland cluster is ongoing.
