Kumaraswamy flags cattle foot-and-mouth disease, K’taka government complains of omission
On Saturday, JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy said the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) among cattle in Karnataka was a “concern” for the agricultural community. The former Prime Minister also said the FMD was serious. Said that it was a serious illness. It is fatal to cattle.

Coomaraswamy said he was “lacking enthusiasm” to deal with the situation resulting from the outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease among cattle, laughing at the Bharatiya Janata government’s concerns about cattle. In a series of tweets, he lamented that dairy farmers were in dire straits due to the outbreak of the disease.
“The BJP government, which has shown enthusiasm for the realization of the anti-cattle slaughter law, does not appear to have shown similar enthusiasm and commitment in the treatment of foot-and-mouth disease,” Coomaraswamy argued. Claimed that it has not yet addressed the fears that plague dairy farmers over the spread of the disease.
He also said that dairy farmers are already in a difficult situation due to lower milk procurement prices and higher cow feed prices. He added that the foot-and-mouth disease epidemic could turn dairy into a deficit venture.
Kumaraswamy warned that FMD could disrupt the entire rural economy if preventive measures are not taken immediately, as farmers rely heavily on livestock for their livelihoods. Coomaraswamy pointed out the shortage of foot-and-mouth disease vaccines in private pharmacies and said the state government should take immediate steps to secure vaccine supply.
