For direct visits, we limit the amount of time we spend in the waiting room and reception area, do not allow anyone other than the patient in the office, and clean the office more often. Q. Is it still safe for pregnant mothers to go to the hospital to give birth to a baby?
A. Yes. We still recommend women give birth in hospitals. The hospital has all the resources available to help the patient. All birth centers in Mid Michigan are private rooms, limiting the number of visitors and people in the building, as well as taking special cleaning precautions.
Q. Is it possible for pregnant women to have support personnel and doulas at the hospital together?
A. We follow current guidelines and allow pregnant patients to bring one healthy adult support representative and one Doula to the hospital.
Q. If my mother has COVID-19 at birth, does she need to be separated from her baby after delivery?
A. So far, the CDC advises that infants should also be tested if their mother tests positive for COVID-19. These results are pending but temporarily quarantine the baby. Once the results are achieved, a care plan is determined to optimize their care and build parental ties wherever possible.
