Welsh election 2021: “Strange” if the Conservatives did not speak of the Cymru Plaid in power
David TC Davies: "We have to withdraw from work, we have had them for 21 years"
A high-ranking Welsh conservative said the party could work with Plaid Cymru if the Conservatives failed to secure a majority in Senedd's elections next year.
Wales Bureau Minister David TC Davies said there would be no pre-electoral agreement with Plaid, but stressed his desire to remove the Labor party from office.
He said it would be "rather strange" not to consider it in light of the Tory / Lib Dem Westminster coalition of 2010.
Plaid Cymru said he had "no interest" in talking to the Conservatives.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Friday urged Welsh Conservatives at their conference in Llangollen to build on their success in the general election and make Assembly group leader Paul Davies Prime Minister in 2021.
However, no party other than the Labor Party has ever led the Welsh government, although it has previously formed coalitions with Plaid Cymru and the Liberal Democrats.

Speaking to BBC Wales at the conference, David TC Davies said: "My attitude is that we are not going to start making deals with people before the elections.
"We will go there and fight to win 31 seats – if we do not get 31 seats, we will have to review things.
"We are very determined to have Paul and others as ministers in a Welsh government.
"We have to withdraw Labor, we have had them for 21 years."
The MP for Monmouth added: "Obviously, in 2010, the Conservative Party in London worked with the Liberals to show what a Conservative government could offer, so it would be strange to suggest that Paul should not do the same in this regard.
"We are not there yet – we are there to fight to win."
In his candidacy for leadership of Plaid, Adam Price denied being willing to reach an agreement with the Conservatives or Labor.
A spokesperson for Plaid Cymru rejected the suggestion that the party could work with the Conservatives.
He said: "Plaid Cymru is the only party that offers hope, and [the leader of Plaid] Adam Price is the only credible Prime Minister who can bring about change.
"We have no interest in talking to a party that has deprived Wales of funding and is determined to drain our Senedd of its powers."
An ICM St David & # 39; s Day poll for the BBC in Wales this month suggested broadly equal support for the Labor Party, the Conservatives and Plaid Cymru with just over a year before the next Senedd elections.
BBC Welsh Affairs editor Vaughan Roderick said it could mean "an unprecedented period of political turmoil"if the three parties win a similar number of seats.
