After Farage joined the fray, the British reformists' grip on Tory defectors was cemented.

The former British reform leader is popular with former Conservative voters and many current voters.

Nigel Farage, who announced late last month that he would not run in the upcoming election, reversed course this week and will now run as a Reform UK candidate in Claxon and take on the party leadership.

In our first voting intentions survey following the announcement, we recorded our highest voter turnout ever for Reform UK (regardless of which methodology we used). In 2019, 26% of Conservative voters said they now planned to vote for the party's right-wing rival.

Now, further findings from YouGov show how Nigel Farages' return to frontline politics could give the Conservatives a run for their money and tempt them to woo wayward voters.

Last week, 52% of 2019 Conservative voters who currently plan to vote for Reform Britain rated their likelihood of supporting the new party at 10 out of 10. This week, following Farages' return, that figure rose to 64%.

Likewise, the number of people refusing to vote Conservative has increased. While 34% of reform-supporting Tory defectors expressed their intention to return to the Conservatives last week on a scale of 0 out of 10, that figure has since risen to 43%.

Results for UK Reform voters overall follow the same trend, with the likelihood of voting for Farage's party increasing by 12 points since last week, giving it a rating of 10/10.

The same survey found that among those planning to support Keir Starmer's party, the 10/10 likelihood of voting Labor also increased by six points, from 58% to 64%, but there was no change among Conservative voters. . The 56% who say they are almost certain to vote Conservative this week is virtually unchanged from the 58% who said so last week.
