Bryson DeChambeau made an electrifying charge up the leaderboard on Saturday at the 2024 US Open. When he wasn't lying on his back, that is.

DeChambeau shot a 6-under 67 on Saturday to make a three-pointer in the field. Yet as he made the turn at one under par in the third round at No. 2 Pinehurst, DeChambeau needed a trainer's help. NBC's Jim “Bones” Mackay reported that the 2020 US Open champion has had torn ligaments in both hips for some time and has become “strained.”

That said, his hips looked good as DeChambeau uncorked another bomb on No. 10 leading to a birdie. Then the physio did some work on him on the side of the 11th tee.

DeChambeau asked the cameras to stay away, but NBC filmed drone footage in which you can see him on the ground working:

DeChambeau's camp told Golf Digest that Bryson woke up Saturday morning with discomfort in his right hip. This required him to go through an abbreviated warm-up session before teeing off, as he was receiving treatment before his 3:35 p.m. start time. They did not say whether or not there was a tear to hip.

After working on it, DeChambeau hit a 359-yard drive down the middle of the fairway on the 11th hole and made another birdie as he soloed into the lead.

“What is this physiotherapist’s number?” NBC's Dan Hicks joked moments later.

DeChambeau addressed the issue after finishing his round.

Yeah, it was harder to make a few shots. It's good. I've had it for a long time now, DeChambeau said. “It's just something that has popped up. I've been playing a lot of good golf lately and I've been working on my house, trying to finish it, so I haven't really had time to rest as I would like.
