Bryson DeChambeau wins another US Open with exceptional finish

PINEHURST, N.C. Bryson DeChambeau won the U.S. Open on Sunday for the second time with another memorable finish on the 18th hole at Pinehurst No. 2, as well as another heavy dose of heartbreak for Rory McIlroy.

In a wild final hour full of more mistakes than brilliance, DeChambeau capped a week of intense fun by climbing up and down 55 yards out of a bunker, sinking a 4-foot par putt to close with a 1 in 71.

It was just as much a missed opportunity for McIlroy.

Trying to end 10 years without a major tournament, he led by two strokes while standing on the 14th tee. McIlroy still led by one stroke until he missed a 30-inch par putt on the 16th hole. And then on the final hole, he pitched to just under 4 feet, only to miss the par putt.
