UK expected to experience first heatwave of the year

So far this year it hasn't been summer in the UK. June has been full of gray clouds, dreary drizzle, chilly temperatures and even a few snowstorms. But we Brits can finally get some proper T-shirt weather.

As the end of the month approaches, the Met Office has predicted blasting sun reaching 26C across the country from June 26 to June 28 (just in time for Glasto!).

WX Charts' weather map using Met Office data shows Birmingham, Cardiff, London, Newcastle and Manchester will enjoy the warmest weather.

Over the next 10 days, Met Office experts said: “Initially, the weather across the UK is likely to continue to be a mix of clear skies and scattered showers, with longer spells of rain possible.” Some showers are expected to be heavy and thunderstorms may occur at times. Temperatures in mid-June will generally be near or slightly below normal, and some areas may also experience breezy weather.

'Confidence that a particular weather pattern will dominate over the weekend and into next week is low. So the best forecast is for fairly typical June weather with a mix of different weather types. This means that the weather is sometimes drier and sunnier, but can also occasionally have showers or rain for longer periods of time. Temperatures are likely to be close to or slightly below average.'
