A British man has died on the Greek island of Spetses.

He was competing in a yacht race, and authorities said he was found dead on Friday.

The man, in his 40s, was found in the bay area of ​​the island with what appeared to be a wound to the left side of his head, according to the Coast Guard.

The Greek island, part of the Saronic Islands group, has an area of ​​27 km² and a population of just over 3,700.

The Coast Guard added that Mr. A was transferred to a nearby hospital but was confirmed dead.

Local media reported that the man was part of a team competing in the annual classic yacht race, which runs from June 26 to 29.
