(June 27, 2024) In an evening of incredible performances and dramatic moments, Frederick Richard (Stoughton, Mass./University of Michigan) made a late-rotation push to emerge as the all-around leader after Day 1 of the U.S. Olympic Gymnastics Team Trials in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Richard topped the field with an all-around score of 85.600, posting the highest scores of the evening in his final two apparatus rotations. He earned a score of 14.400 on high bar in the fifth rotation and a score of 14.700 on floor to close out the evening. Reigning U.S. all-around champion Brody Malone (Aragon, Ga./EVO Gymnastics) is in second place overall with an 85.100 and teammate Shane Wiskus (Spring Park, Minn./EVO Gymnastics) is third with an 84.300.

Curran Phillips (Naperville, Ill./EVO Gymnastics) had the top score on parallel bars with a 15.600, and Stephen Nedoroscik (Worcester, Mass./EVO Gymnastics) was the leader on pommel horse with a 14.450. Alex Diab (Hinsdale, Ill./EVO Gymnastics) earned a 14.600 on the still rings to lead the apparatus, and Donnell Whittenburg (Baltimore, Md./Salto Gymnastics) is first in the vault standings after his score of 14.100 (13.800 , 14,500) on two jumps.

The 2024 U.S. men's Olympic team will be named after the second day of men's competition in Minneapolis.
