The Reform Party has dropped or replaced a dozen candidates over controversial comments on social media, but only one candidate has been suspended since formal nominations closed earlier this month.

The party's candidate for the Saffron Walden constituency, Kemi Badenochs, resigned last week after making historic comments urging people to vote for the BNP.

Former Conservative MP Grant St Clair-Armstrong said there was no excuse for his comments in 2010.

Several opinion polls over the past two weeks have shown the Reform Party in second place, ahead of the Conservatives, and Farage predicted his party would win a significant share of the vote on Thursday.

Responding to Mr Tugendhat's comments, a Reform spokesman said: A decent Tory party is tearing us down, supporting the Conservatives despite their collapse of the economy and presiding over the migration of millions of people here despite promises to the contrary. There are a lot of people. As long as the military is there, the world is becoming more and more dangerous.

We do not blame them for the corruption at the heart of the Tory party, with its sordid gambling scandals and the countless questionable MPs forced to resign because of unspeakable behaviour.

We do not blame the ordinary supporters of the corrupt and broken party that waged war for its continued failures. We blame people like Mr. Tugendhat who have led this vulgar, shameful and incoherent chaos that has led to the enormous misfortune that this country has suffered.
