Today, following President Biden’s meeting with President Zelenskyy, the Department of Defense (DoD) announced additional security assistance to address Ukraine’s critical security and defense needs. This announcement marks the sixty-first tranche of equipment provided by the Biden Administration from the DoD stockpile to Ukraine since August 2021. This Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) program, valued at $225 million, will provide Ukraine with additional capabilities to address its most pressing needs, including: air defense systems and interceptors; ammunition for rocket systems and artillery; and anti-tank weapons.

As President Biden announced earlier this week, the United States is working with Germany, Romania, the Netherlands, and Italy to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses and provide five strategic air defense systems, including Patriot batteries and SAMP/T systems, that will help protect Ukrainian cities, civilians, and troops. The United States and our allies and partners remain committed to providing Ukraine with additional air defense capabilities to defend against Russia’s continued aggression.
