A furious Lando Norris was forced to give up his second Formula One win after allowing Oscar Piastri to win the controversial Hungarian Grand Prix on orders from his McLaren team.
Despite failing to escape pole position at the Hungaroring, Norris finished behind team-mate Piastri, but he appeared to have been given a lifeline when McLaren pulled him in for a second tyre change two laps earlier than his team-mate.
The undercut put Norris in the lead, five seconds ahead of Piastri, but the Briton faced a series of orders from his race engineer Will Joseph to give up his spot to Piastri, despite chasing Max Verstappen for the world championship.
Norris slowed down on the main straight with three laps remaining, allowing Piastri to take the lead. No need to say anything, he said over the radio. Norris finished one place ahead of Lewis Hamilton, with Charles Leclerc fourth and Verstappen fifth.

1721588433How do you move your car between races in Formula 1?
It’s one of the biggest logistical challenges in sports, but how do Formula 1 teams transport hundreds of tons of equipment around the world every week?
While the two-hour race on Sunday may grab the spotlight, the business of transporting cars, critical parts and people around the world is a full-time, 24/7 operation.
And that’s the challenge that ultimately keeps the title challenge alive for drivers like Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and the rest of the F1 grid, who arrive at the track location on race Thursday with the paddock already set up and the cars ready to go.

1721587233What is DRS in Formula 1, what does it mean and how does it work?
If you have been a fan of Formula 1 in recent years, you will be familiar with the term DRS, which is a system that effectively allows more overtaking.
Since its introduction in 2011, DRS has become an important part of the sport. It stands for Drag Reduction System and is an adjustable section of the rear wing that, when opened, increases speed by 10-12 km/h.
It may not sound like much of a difference when your car is already going 300 km/h, but on a long straight stretch it can make a huge difference.

In recent years, F1 has finally moved with the times, with LGBTQ+ representation increasing across the sport, whether in team personnel, F1 staff or members of the media. Previously, the sport’s overwhelmingly masculine nature made last Sunday’s announcement much less palatable to some.

Former F1 world champion Jacques Villeneuve says Sergio Perez, who is struggling at Red Bull, will struggle to secure a spot at Williams right now.
The Mexican driver has had a tough few months, collecting just 15 points in his last six races, and team boss Christian Horner admits the 34-year-old is not in form at the moment.
Amid speculation that Perez, who signed a new contract until the end of 2025 a month ago, could pull out mid-season, the Mexican spun out of qualifying on the first round of the Hungarian Grand Prix, finishing 16th on the grid and having to struggle to finish seventh.
