UK charter flights to help British nationals leave Lebanon

The UK has chartered flights to meet additional demand from British nationals and their families wishing to leave Lebanon.

The flight is scheduled to depart Beirut on Wednesday. Additional flights in the future may vary depending on demand and ground security conditions.

Vulnerable British nationals will be given priority boarding on these flights.

The British government has chartered a commercial plane in Lebanon to help British nationals wanting to leave the country as violence there intensifies, the Foreign Secretary announced. [Monday] (September 30).

British nationals, their spouses or partners and children under 18 are eligible. The Government has been working with partners in recent weeks to increase the capacity of commercial flights to allow British nationals to travel and has now chartered flights to provide additional capacity. .

The flight is scheduled to depart Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport on Wednesday.

Those who have registered their presence with the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office will be sent details on how to request a seat. If you are a British national living in Lebanon and have not yet registered your residence, please do so immediately.

Vulnerable British nationals, their spouses or partners and children under 18 will be given priority on these flights.

British citizens should not head to the airport unless they have a confirmed seat on the plane.

The situation in Lebanon is unstable and likely to deteriorate quickly.

The safety of British nationals in Lebanon continues to be our top priority.

That's why the British government is organizing charter flights to help people who want to leave. It is important to leave now as further evacuation may not be guaranteed.

UK government officials are working tirelessly in London, Beirut and the wider region to provide support to the British people. Last week, 700 troops, border guards and Foreign Office officials were deployed to Cyprus to continue emergency planning for a variety of scenarios in the region. An FCDO rapid deployment team has also arrived in Lebanon to augment the support provided by British Embassy officials.

The safety of British nationals living in Lebanon, Israel and the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT) continues to be a top priority for the UK Government and the FCDO advises everyone to continue to follow relevant travel advice, exercise caution and monitor media developments in Lebanon. We urge you to monitor.

Britain has been calling for a ceasefire between Lebanon's Hezballah and Israel for more than a week, with further escalation avoided. A ceasefire would provide the space needed to find a political solution under Resolution 1701.
