ACC Statement on Impact of US Port Strike on Chemical Manufacturing
WASHINGTON (October 1, 2024) – The following statement regarding the impact of the strike at U.S. Eastern and Gulf Coast ports can be attributed to Chris Jahn, President and CEO of American Chemistry Council:
“The chemical industry is one of the nation's largest shippers of all modes of transportation, including ocean shipments through our nation's ports. The port strike is particularly concerning for our industry because approximately 90% of waterborne chemical shipments entering and leaving the United States pass through ports on the East Coast and Gulf Coast.
