“There is a small chance that some rural communities will be cut off, with some vehicles and passengers stranded on roads and rail and air travel delayed or cancelled,” the Met Office continued.
Advice for drivers
The National Weather Service said snow and wintry weather can cause delays and make driving conditions hazardous, so you should plan your route, check for delays and road closures, and modify your travel plans if necessary to keep yourself and others safe.
Take more time to prepare and inspect your vehicle before you leave. Additionally, make sure you pack the essentials in your car in case of delays: warm clothing, food, water, blankets, flashlight, ice scraper/de-icer, warning tripod, high-vis vest, and in-vehicle essentials. Cell phone charger.
How to Prepare for a Power Outage
The National Weather Service said people who may be affected should consider gathering torches, batteries, mobile phone power packs and other essential items as people can better cope with power outages if they prepare in advance.
The Met Office also said a yellow warning was in place for snow and ice covering northern Scotland from 4am on Wednesday until 10am on Thursday, which could disrupt travel and make driving difficult.
And with a heavy ice warning in place for Northern Ireland, parts of North Wales, northern England and Scotland from 4pm on Wednesday until 10am on Thursday, travel conditions could also be difficult.
It comes as strong winds and heavy rain hit Britain, causing some flooding.
