A total of 36,816 migrants crossed the English Channel to the UK in 2024, according to interim government figures.

The number of people entering the country on small ships in 2023 increased by 25% compared to 29,437.

The number of people making the crossing has increased significantly in recent years.

When figures were first compiled in 2018, 299 people arrived. It more than quadrupled to 1,843 people in 2019 (8,466 in 2020), and tripled to 28,526 in 2021.
