The Met Office has issued a three-day snow warning for most of the UK, warning temperatures are set to plummet in the first weekend of 2025.

Around 5cm of snow is expected to fall widely across the Midlands, Wales and northern England, with up to 20 to 30cm of snow expected to fall on higher ground in Wales and the Pennines.

Forecasters warned there was a slight chance of power outages in some areas and even in some rural areas during the 45-hour warning period starting Saturday.

The warning zone applies to almost all of England except the whole of Wales, southern Scotland and parts of the south and east coasts and is in place from 12pm on Saturday to 9am on Monday.
