Marco Longhi quit the party for Reform Britain after calling the Tories 'unrecognizable' and 'obsessed with the left'.

Former Conservative MP Marco Longhi recently switched his allegiance to Reform Britain in a high-profile defection to Nigel Farage's party.

Longhi, who served as MP for Dudley North from 2019 to 2024, warned that “the party of Churchill and Thatcher has been transformed into something unrecognizable” as she announced the motion for emerging reforms.

Longhe's statement announcing his defection today reads: “Today I am proud to announce my transition from the Conservative Party to Reform Britain.

“As a long-standing Conservative member, I have always remained true to my principles and values. But above all, devotion to you, the people, has always been the driving force of my political career.

The news comes just minutes before the start of Reform's first regional conference in Leicester.

Longhi is due to appear on stage alongside Nigel Farage, who mocked his attack on the Conservative Party.

Farage vowed to “counter Kemi Badenoch's crazy conspiracy theories about reforming the UK after no apology was forthcoming” at the meeting following a heated row over membership numbers on Boxing Day.

Also attending the party's landmark East Midlands conference will be Ashfield councilor Lee Anderson and party chairman Zia Yusuf.
