Broadway News Stereophonic Announces West End Run Tour in the United States

The Tony-winning play recouped its investment on Broadway just in time for its next chapter.

2024 Tony-winning Best Play Stereophonic may have just a week left in its Broadway engagement, but the band isn't stopping there—they're hitting the road.

The recently recovered Broadway tour will conclude on January 12 at the Golden Theater, after 305 performances and two extended extensions. After a brief hiatus, the production will return to life in May 2025 with a West End engagement at the Duke of Yorks Theater in London, with a US tour planned to begin in October.

The current Broadway cast includes Benjamin Anthony Anderson, Tony winner Will Brill, Andrew Butler, Amy Forsyth, Eli Gelb, Rebecca Naomi Jones and Chris Stack. Brill, Butler, Gelb and Stack have been involved in the production since its world premiere at Playwrights Horizons. Butler, Gelb and Stack will continue production in London. Additional casting for the West End production will be announced at a later date.

Written by David Adjmi, Stereophonic follows an anonymous 70s rock band recording their second album. It features original music by Will Butler, formerly of the band Arcade Fire. Stereophonic made history last year by earning 13 Tony Award nominations: the most of any play. It won five Tonys, including Best Play, Best Director (Daniel Aukin), Best Actor (Will Brill), Best Scenic Design (David Zinn) and Best Sound Design (Ryan Rumery).

The Stereophonic National Tour will officially launch at the Paramount Theater in Seattle, WA as part of STG Broadway during the 2025-2026 Paramount season. Additional cities, dates and other relevant information will be announced at a later date. The tour will be produced by Sue Wagner, John Johnson, Seaview, Sonia Friedman Productions, Linden Productions, as well as Ashley Melone and Nick Mills.
