First American woman to be enshrined in the Modern Martyrs' Memorial

Who was Sister Dorothy Stang?

Born in 1931, Sr. Dorothy Stang joined the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in Ohio at the age of 17. In 1966, she became a missionary in Brazil and fought for the rights of poor settlers and the protection of the rainforest against loggers. and landowners who wanted to exploit its resources.
