Trump's ordinance aims at a constitutional right automatically granting citizenship to anyone born in the country.

A federal judge blocked the decree of President Donald Trump restricting the right of citizenship, a right registered in the Constitution automatically granting citizenship to any person born in the United States.

The judge of the district court John Coughenour made a temporary ban order Thursday in Seattle, in the state of Washington, preventing the government from implementing what it has described as an unconstitutional measure.

Trump's order was collected with concern by the rights groups that describe it as a fundamental attack on the concept of American citizenship.

The decree threatened to affect not only children born in the United States of undocumented parents, but also children of immigrants legally present in the country.

Monday's order, which is part of a series of measures signed by Trump to restrict immigration, was quickly challenged before the courts.

No less than five proceedings were brought against Trump's attack on citizen's birth law, involving leaders of 22 states and several civil rights groups, including the American Civil Liberties Union.

Thursday's temporary prohibition order follows a complaint filed by four states led by Democrats: Arizona, Illinois, Oregon and Washington. It was the first of the prosecution to reach the hearing stadium.

Under this order, babies who are born today do not count as American citizens, argued the deputy prosecutor of Washington, Lane Polozola, at the start of the hearing.

For more than a century, the Supreme Court has also defended the concept of citizenship of birth law, referring to the 14th amendment of the American Constitution.

It stipulates: all people born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction of these are citizens of the United States.

The Trump administration, however, argued that birth citizenship encouraged irregular migration to the United States.
