'More confusing!' Storm Herminia is set to 'roll and shake' the UK in the wake of devastating Eowyn.

Weather analyst Nathan Rao has warned that Storm Herminia will bring more destructive weather to the UK this weekend in the wake of devastating Storm Eowyn.

The caution comes as Britain and Ireland continue to reel from Storm Eowyn, which brought winds of up to 114mph.

The Met Office has issued a number of warnings, with warnings running from Sunday to Tuesday, as Storm Herminia approaches.

A yellow warning for gale force winds is in place for north-west and south-west England, Wales and south-west Scotland from 8am to 3pm on Sunday.

In an interview with GB News, Rao said: “Storm Eowyn was a particularly severe storm, as you mentioned, with gusts of 114 mph. Now it's up there with the Great Storm of 1987 as some of the worst storms we've ever had. Some of us will remember that it was a 134 mph gust .

“But with this storm, when we start getting wind gusts over 100 miles per hour, we’re actually getting very destructive, destructive winds, and those winds will continue into the early hours of this morning.”

“The Met Office’s yellow warning for winds in north-west Scotland is in place until 6pm so will expire soon.

“But it was a very windy day with a lot of clearing and destruction as the winds continued to batter the north-west of the country and Storm Éowyn moved north-east.

“It will be quieter, it will be colder along the west coast as the tail end of Storm Éowyn pulls in colder air, and there will be more destructive weather as we spend the weekend with another storm.

“Storm Herminia is approaching. This will be less destructive than Storm Eowyn and will stay off the west coast of England, but will bring more destructive wet and windy weather throughout this weekend.”

He explained: “They just keep rolling and rattling around. So this won’t be the last storm we’ll see in the coming weeks and months. I would expect and I would expect some of them to be just as spicy.”

Widespread wind gusts of 50 to 60 mph are expected, with gusts up to 70 mph possible around exposed coasts and hills.

The Lancashire and Merseyside coasts will be affected, but Greater Manchester is expected to avoid the worst of the winds.

Disruption continues across the UK as recovery efforts take place in the aftermath of Storm Eowyn.

Met Office meteorologist Aidan McGivern said: There will be more windy weather from Sunday to Monday and potentially more windy thereafter as the weather is very unsettled.

Skipping ahead to Tuesday, we see that the lowest temperatures are still lingering over the west and north-west of England, and this is most likely to be the weather pattern for Tuesday as it looks very unsettled.

Unsettled conditions are likely to remain throughout next week.
