A huge storm system crossing the United States threatens to trigger tornadoes on Friday in the Mississippi valley, blizzards in the North plains and dry and gustful conditions in Texas and Oklahoma which present an extreme risk of forest fires.
The National Weather Service predicted extreme weather conditions through a large band from the United States with a population of more than 100 million people. Powerful winds crawling up to 80 mph were planned from the Canadian line to the Rio Grande border with Mexico.
The forecastists say that the serious threat of storm will continue on weekends, with a moderate chance of tornadoes and winds damaging the south of southern Saturday towards areas such as New Orleans and Birmingham, in Alabama. On Sunday, heavy rains could bring sudden floods in certain parts of the east coast.
Experts say that it is not unusual to see such extreme times in March, when the emerging spring heat and the persistent winter cold create large temperature differences so that storms thrive.
“If there is a period of the year when a storm like this can offer these impacts from one ocean to another, we are there,” Meteorologist at the Penn State University said.
The tornadoes probably in the middle of the storm storm storm storm of severe storm were expected on Friday afternoon with a risk of thunderstorms stretching from the Great Lakes to the Gulf Coast.
The forecasters said that the tornadoes, damaged winds and hail the size of baseball were likely, with the greatest risk in the east of Missouri, a large part of Iowa and parts of Iowa, Kentucky, Tennessee and Arkansas. The prediction center for weather service storms said 17 million people were faced with a threat of severe storm improved by monks, Iowa, in Jackson, Mississippi.
The threat of tornado grows further south on Saturday in the Gulf coast states, including New Orleans and other parts of eastern Louisiana and a large part of Mississippi and Alabama.
The blizzards expected in the northern plains of the actors have warned that heavy snow whipped by powerful winds should make trips treacherous in certain parts of the Rockies and the Plains of the North. Blizzard conditions were possible in the Dakotas and Minnesota.
Winter storm warnings issued Thursday dwell on Friday morning in mountainous regions of Arizona and Utah, where more than one foot (30 centimeters) of snowfall was possible. The forecasters warned against poor visibility and glazed road conditions, urging motorists to travel with additional food and water in case they blocked.
The winter explosion continued after snowfall up to 3 feet (90 centimeters) covered Sierra Nevada earlier in the week.
The dry and gustful conditions bring an “extreme” threat of forest, dry time and sustained winds of up to 45 MPH (72 km / h) brought what the meteorological service called “almost historic” conditions to trigger forest fires on Friday in the south plains and the southwest parts. Wind gusts exceeding 80 MPH (128 km / h) were possible.
The forecasters shared a little advice during a special briefing: for those who are stuck on the roads, keep a firm footprint on the steering wheel and watch the fallen trees, the electric lines and other debris. They said that the strong winds would give a boost of dust and that the shock conditions were possible.
“This is probably the worst storm of dust so far this year,” said Randall Hergert, a chief forecaster of the meteorological service in Albuquerque.
The forecasters also warned of an extreme risk of fire in certain parts of Northern Texas, a large part of Oklahoma and southeast of Kansas. A wider area where the threat of fire has been designated as stretched critic from eastern New Mexico in Texas and in the north to a part of southern Iowa.
The meteorological service said that a potential for dry thunderstorms in certain parts of the Kansas, Oklahoma, Missouri and Arkansas has the additional risk of fire triggering with minimum precipitation to prevent them from spreading.
