The Trump administration will revoke the legal status of hundreds of thousands of Latin American and Haitian migrants hosted in the United States as part of a sponsorship process of the Biden era, exhorting them to self-bring or to face an arrest and the suppression by deportation agents.

CBS News first reported in early February that the Trump administration planned to revoke the legal status of people who had entered the United States as part of the CHNV process.

The Ministry of Internal Security said that it would request the arrest and expulsion of people subject to the change of policy if they do not reach the United States in the next 30 days. Managers urge migrants to use the newly reused CBP Home smartphone application to register for self-export.

But the DHS said that it retains the authority to target migrants who arrived in this program before 30 days come on. Managers say that priority for arrest will include migrants who have not requested another immigration advantage such as asylum or a green card.

In a statement, DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said that migrants authorized in the United States as part of the CHNV process had been “under freely verification” and argued that the program has underestimated American workers.

“The termination of the CHNV parole of the CHNV and the termination of the parole for those who exploited it are a return to common sense policies, a return to public security and a return to America first,” added McLaughlin.
