The United States of the Personnel Institute receive dismissal opinions, say sources

The staff members of the US Institute of Peace were informed that they were immediately dismissed on Friday, five sources familiar with the situation at CBS News.

It was not immediately clear if the layoffs affect the entire organization, but sources have declared that layoffs have an impact on the vast majority of the non -profit organization, including several departments of the organization funded by the Congress.

The Trump administration has tried to freeze the institute's funding and the intestine and replace its board of directors. President Trump signed a decree in February aimed at dismantling the USIP.

The USIP has around 300 employees and a budget of approximately $ 55 million. The Institute's mission is to promote conflict resolution and conflict prevention around the world.

The affected employees were informed of their dismissal by e-mail from an e-mail USIP address.

Earlier this month, a federal judge refused to grant a temporary prohibition order to prevent the takeover from the Ministry of Effective Effective Government, after the members of DOGE staff had access to the USIP building in Washington, DC

US district judge Beryl Howell criticized the way the DOGE team managed the situation, but said it would not grant a temporary ban order to arrest Doge. The USIP had asked the judge to prevent Doge from “finishing the illegal dismantling of the institute”.

USIP's layoffs came the same day that the Trump administration took measures to formally close the American agency for international development, or USAID.

USIP was created by Congress in 1984 during the administration of former president Ronald Reagan. Reagan signed a law officially establishing the Institute as “an independent non -profit company”.

The White House did not immediately respond to a request to comment on Saturday.
