6.5 earthquakes in Idaho, the largest in the state since 1983
McCALL, Idaho It was a typical Tuesday evening at the Albertsons grocery store in this resort about 160 km north of Boise.

About 375 miles away in Evaro, Montana, near Missoula, Shannon Patton also felt the ground shake.
“I actually thought I was getting dizzy because of my migraine,” said Patton in an email. “Our lights were shaking and one of our panels on the door of our pantry almost fell.”
A magnitude 4.8 aftershock, centered southwest of Challis, followed about an hour later, the USGS said on Twitter. Smaller aftershocks continued until the evening.
The Borah Peak earthquake is the largest ever recorded in Idaho in both magnitude and property damage, according to the IGS. The towns of Challis and Mackay were the most affected, with 11 commercial buildings and 39 private houses having suffered significant damage.
