UK sets new daily record for Covid-19 vaccination

More than 27.6 million people, well over half of the adult population in the UK, received at least one Covid-19 vaccine, official data were released on Sunday after 844,285 daily records were administered the day before.

According to the data, about 2.2 million people got both vaccines.

This tremendous team effort was tweeted by UK’s Chief Health Minister Matt Hancock and celebrated the second daily record administered over the course of several days.

Earlier, the government gave higher numbers for the number of daily vaccinations given on Saturday. Hancock said the figures were corrected after the adjusted data came in from Scotland, but the new figures were still British daily records.

The British Prime Minister urged everyone to be vaccinated when Boris Johnson was asked to be vaccinated.

According to Covid-19 data released daily in the UK, 33 new deaths were recorded on Sunday, the lowest since October, and in January and February fell from well over 1,000 deaths per day.

The total number of deaths on 7 days was 640, down 37% compared to the previous 7 day period.

The number of new infections has also declined, with 5,312 reported on Sunday, a total of 38,145 reported over 7 days, down 4% compared to the last 7 days.

Since the onset of the pandemic, a total of 126,155 people have died in the UK in 28 days and then tested positive for Corona 19, the highest official death in Europe and the fifth highest in the world in 28 days.

The UK’s vaccine launch is the fastest in major economies, but the government has warned that it will slow down next month due to a supply crisis.
