“Dare Me” canceled after one season on USA Network – Deadline

There will be no second season in the American drama series Dare Me. USA Network has chosen to cancel the series from UCP and Peter Berg and Michael Lombardo’s Film 44 after one season, Deadline confirmed. We learn that UCP will purchase the series from other outlets.

Dare Me was created for stellar critics. Co-produced by Netflix, the series began international broadcast on the streamer last month and has a second window running on Netflix in the United States.

Based on the novel by Megan Abbott, who serves as writer and executive producer with Gina Fattore, Dare Me is described as a flawless exploration of the anxiety, jealousy, loyalty and power dynamics of adolescents in a small town in the Midwest.

The series delved into the fierce world of competitive high school cheerleading. He follows the tense relationship between two best friends after the arrival of a new coach to highlight their team. As the girls’ friendships are put to the test, their young lives are forever changed when a shocking crime shakes their peaceful suburban world. At the same time story of transition to adulthood, drama in a small town, mystery of murder, Dare Me exposes the physical and psychological extremes that some young women are ready to endure to move forward. Dare Me stars Willa Fitzgerald as coach Colette French, Herizen Guardiola as Addy Hanlon and Marlo Kelly as Beth Cassidy. Additional series regulars included Rob Heaps and Paul Fitzgerald.
