The first round of Brexit negotiations ended on Thursday as Michel Barnier warned of several "differences" between the two sides. Despite the warning from the EU's highest negotiator, he nonetheless said that an agreement could be possible by the end of the year.
However, Mr. Johnson was warned by Simon Usherwood, a professor of politics at the University of Surrey, that he might face the "same problem" as his predecessor.
Although the Prime Minister has a greater majority in the Commons, he could ultimately face a "bumpy road" if he fails to maintain the support of his backcountry.
Usherwood said, "He could face the same problem that Theresa May had.
"She had room for negotiations but she had to return to Parliament.
"Boris may have more flexibility because there is less attention but he will have to bring back a chord.
"If he didn't keep his backbench together, it could be a bumpy road."
After his overwhelming election victory, Boris Johnson now has a majority of 74 seats in the Commons.
With this majority, it has a stronger position to adopt future legislation.

The EU has also warned that the UK must accept an adequate proposal on fisheries, the role of the European Court of Justice and the overall nature of the agreement.
Barnier said: "There are many differences, and these are very serious differences, which is probably quite natural after the first round of negotiations.
"We had agreed with the UK that we would like to prevent trade distortions on both sides and prevent an unfair competitive advantage.
"The UK does not want to translate these commitments into a common agreement and it does not want appropriate mechanisms on both sides to ensure compliance.
"Although we agree on maintaining high standards, my questions are why not formally commit to it?"

He also warned the UK that there would be "a lot of consequences" for the UK if he withdrew from an agreement.
The transition period for negotiations ends on December 31, 2020.
The deadline to extend the transition ends on July 1, 2020, but Mr Johnson insisted that he would not ask to do so.
If no agreement is reached by the end of 2020, the UK will leave without an agreement.
