Twenty-nine new cases of COVID-19 were reported today in Humboldt County. The total number of residents in the county who tested positive for the virus is currently 4,853.

The California-contracted OptimServe test service will shut down the county-wide mobile test site at the end of July. The COVID-19 test is available 24/7 from 7 am to 7 pm at OptimServe’s fixed site in Warfinger Building, 1 Marina Way, Eureka.

The COVID-19 test is also available to local healthcare providers and some pharmacies. Companies, schools, and community organizations wishing to access test resources can apply through the California Test Task Force. For more information, please visit: tests.covid19.ca.gov/get-started/..

The California Public Health Service (CDPH) yesterday issued a statement reporting an increased risk of infection for unvaccinated individuals, with COVID reported state-wide between January 1 and July 14- He said that 99% of 19 cases occurred in unvaccinated individuals.

“As infections continue to increase in the state-wide community and the rapid spread of Delta variants, more individuals, especially unvaccinated individuals, may become infected with COVID, according to a CDPH statement. Vaccines continue to be very effective in preventing new cases, serious illnesses, hospitalizations and deaths.
