Delta Variant Increases COVID-19 Cases in Bucks, Montgomery County
The CDC currently lists Bucks and Montgomery as a “substantial infectious community” of coronavirus. This is because the number of new cases is increasing with the more contagious delta mutants.
In both counties, the summer days when only 5-6 people were virus-positive per day are over. Bucks reported 75 new cases on Friday and 96 cases in Montgomery County on Saturday. This is the latest number available.
More people may be infected with COVID-19 and may not know it because the availability of the vaccine has led to a recession in testing.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that even fully vaccinated people wear masks in public indoor environments where infection is significant or high.
Neither county issues Maskman Dates. Pennsylvania health officials say that state-wide masking obligations are unlikely, but we recommend that you follow the CDC guidelines.
Montgomery County continues to recommend wearing masks in public indoor environments, even for fully vaccinated individuals, said Theresa Harris, the county’s public relations manager.
“Fully vaccinated people are masked, regardless of the level of infection, especially if they are immunocompromised, at high risk of serious illness due to COVID-19, or if there are immunocompromised people in their families. You may choose to wear it. Severe illness or not completely vaccinated, “Harris said.
Mask up with Bucks? :The county has no plans to require masks from vaccinated residents.
COVID, Pennsylvania:Pennsylvania does not require face masks in public despite rising COVID-19 infection rates
The story continues below the graphic
Thankfully, the cases are also much milder, as shown by public health records.
Last month, Bucks lost six people to the virus, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
Montgomery County has reported three deaths associated with COVID-19 since 1 July.
According to the US Census, Bucks County is home to an estimated 628,270 people. The Pennsylvania Department of Health estimates that 307,498 people, or 49%, are vaccinated.
According to the US Census, Montgomery County is home to 830,915 people. According to the state, 416,659 people in Montgomery County, or 50%, are vaccinated.
CDC label Infectious community On the basis of Number of cases per day per 100,000 residents Ratio with People who test positive for the virus.
The system for determining the transmission level within the community is complex.
First, the CDC sums up Total number of new cases in the community Within the last 7 days. Then divide that number by the county’s population and multiply by 100,000.
If the resulting number is between 50 and 99.9, the community is evaluated for substantial infection.
Next, CDC considers Positive rate in nucleic acid amplification test For viral genetic material.
The CDC sums the number of COVID-19 positive tests over the last 7 days. Then divide that number by the number of tests performed in the community over the last 7 days.
If the resulting numbers are between 8% and 9.9%, the community can also assess substantive infections.
If the results of any factor (new case or diagnostic test) suggest different levels of infection, the CDC chooses the higher of the two levels.
Twenty-four of the 67 counties in Pennsylvania were considered to have significant spread as of Saturday, and one (Crawford County, western state) was considered to have a high COVID spread.
Only Chester County in the Philadelphia region is not considered to have substantial extent. Neighboring states are fairly widespread in all Delaware and all New Jersey states except Warren County.
