Clam County – The Cascadia Rising earthquake emergency exercise held across the Northwest in 2021 was to be updated and repeated 5 years later. Curb.

Now, officials from the Clallam County Emergency Management Center have announced their plans for the Cascadia hike, Part 2, scheduled for June 13-17.

The original exercise was a 4-day simulation that gave statewide agencies a chance to conduct rehearsals on how they would react on the day of the 9.0 earthquake. This year it will be different. Instead of practicing our reaction immediately after the earthquake is fully operational on the ground, this would be a tabletop exercise that simulates the response 96 hours after the earthquake.

The new format is meant to continue where the 2016 exercise left off. Days one and two will look at critical transportation routes and how we will serve potentially cut-off communities, says Justin Corley, Emergency Response Coordinator, who appears on the Todd Ortloff Show.

“The focus will really be on our work with our neighboring counties, because we depend on Jefferson County and its roads to get to Clamham County, or to get goods and services in it. So, we’re also going to work on a regional scale.”

Day three will focus on group care, or how we ensure that everyone has enough food, water and medicine for a long time.

There is also day 4.
