Liverpool's preparations for Taylor Swift's concerts in Edinburgh have sparked seismometers across the city.

Not only did the British Geological Survey team (or should that be a team) record the seismic activity, they also saw how the activity correlated with particular songs and the audience's reaction to them.

“It's amazing that we were able to measure the reaction of thousands of party-goers remotely from our data,” said Callum Harrison, a seismologist at BGS.

“The opportunity to explore seismic activity resulting from a different type of phenomenon was exciting.

“Scotland's reputation for providing some of the most enthusiastic crowds clearly remains intact!”

Based on Murrayfield's data, each of the three evenings followed a similar seismic pattern, with the phrase “…are you ready for this?” “Severe summer” and “champagne problems” lead to the most significant seismic activity each night.
