Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a very unpleasant condition. It affects the stomach and intestines. It is also twice as common in women as in men. We know that with IBS, you are more likely to experience symptoms of abdominal bloating, abdominal pain, and you may have problems with constipation or diarrhea. It is also known to be related to stress. Women are thought to be more susceptible to stress than men, and that's why IBS is known to be twice as common in women than in men. And IBS also affects what you eat, right? With IBS, most of the symptoms are related to the digestive system, so there are some things you can do to treat IBS or at least reduce its effects. So IBS also affects what you eat. For example, if you are prone to abdominal bloating, your doctor may tell you to avoid carbonated drinks and alcohol. What tends to cause bloating. We also know that if you can eat a high fiber diet and drink enough water, say 64 ounces each day, it helps ease symptoms of bloating and constipation.
