Women's tennis concludes ITA Atlantic Regionals in Charlottesville
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. The University of Richmond women's tennis team competed in the 2024 ITA Division I Women's Atlantic Regional Championship in Charlottesville last weekend as a Spider newcomer Abby Lee recorded two wins in singles in the qualifying round and duo Lucy Webber And Lainey O'Neil picked up the only doubles win for Richmond.
Lee defeated Ava Chambers (Howard) 7-5, 6-0 before defeating Lexi Smolder (Radford) 6-0, 6-4. The freshman then dropped a hard-fought battle to Blanca Pico Navarro (UVA) 6-2, 6-1 to close out the tournament. Elizabeth Novak picked up a win over Aleksandra Evdokimova (Morgan St.), 6-1, 6-1, while Webber rounded out Richmond's singles victories with a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Veda Prapurna (MASON).
Webber and O'Neil posted an 8-5 doubles win over Kennedy/Evans (Georgetown) in the opening round before falling to Uslu/Cartledge (Va. Tech) in the second round.
