Family & Friends Weekend 2024 meets “Autumn Peak” in Boston

There were games to play in the park, sports teams to cheer on, trips to museums and cultural sites, public arts tours of campus, an a cappella concert, a movie showing – and lots of things to do.

The leaves were changing, the sun was shining, and Northeastern University's Boston campus was packed for the annual family and friends weekend.

“I feel like we're in the height of fall right now,” said Christina Carandang, a third-year student who was taking her mother and grandmother from San Diego around campus for the first time Friday afternoon. “In California, we don't really get fall, so I'm excited to walk around town.”

Willa Karadang said she was excited “to see her daughter's life and where she spends her time.”

Meanwhile, Linda Shelton and her daughter Tiffany Miles were waiting near the koi pond for first-year student Charles Shelton. This was the fourth or fifth time the women had made the trip from Birmingham, Alabama, to visit the campus.

“We had no idea he would want to come this far for school,” Shelton said of Charles. “We were all shocked.”

They both said they look forward to spending time with their husky and living in a city that has become his favorite home.

“It's like a proud big sister moment — watching him as a young adult,” Miles said.

Northeastern University's Family and Friends Weekend welcomed parents, grandparents, siblings and friends to the Boston University campus this weekend for three days of events. There were games to play in the park, sports teams to cheer on, trips to museums and cultural sites, public arts tours of campus, an a cappella concert, a movie showing – and lots of things to do.

“I just take any opportunity to come and see her,” said Anne Walsh, mother of sophomore Mary Brindle.

Meanwhile, parent Christopher Brindle was looking forward to his first Northeast hockey game.

“I'm amazed,” Brindle said.

The family came bearing gifts — in this case lots of groceries for Mary and her roommate.

Outside of Snell Library, first-year student Bella Rupke and her family made friendship bracelets — something 8-year-old Elizabeth found especially fun.

“We want to do some activities that make memories,” said mother Mary Rupke, adding that their next stop was the “Stuff a Husky” pavilion.

Father Sven Röpke said it was beautiful to see the campus and all the places Bella talked about during phone calls to their home in Connecticut.

“Being physically here and spending time together is different than what you get from afar,” Sven said.

Meanwhile, the Vrobleski family, consisting of first-year student Katie, mother Michelle, father Steve and dog Chloe, had just picked out a Northeastern husky-printed dress for their chihuahua and dachshund family member.

“He asked us to,” Michelle said with a laugh when asked why they decided to bring Khloe from their home in central New Jersey.

But Chloe was interested, happily wagging her tail (and body) as the family headed across campus. In fact, Khloe had joined the family for dinner on Newbury Street the night before — “on the patio,” Michelle said.

Meanwhile, Centennial Common has turned into a festival — offering pumpkins, mural painting, lawn games, caricature artists, and plenty of cotton candy, candy apples and other treats. A scarecrow walked around the public area on stilts, and living statues of a pirate, a witch and a tree surveyed the crowds.

Parent Jessica Silverman said it was great to visit her son, first-year student Sam, for the first time since they dropped him off at the beginning of the semester.

“It's amazing, it's hard to believe it's been almost two months,” Jessica Silverman said. “It's great to see how happy he is and how well he's coping.”

Parent Bernadette Faneuil had similar feelings.

“I'm so excited just to spend time with him,” she said of her son, first-year student Jimmy Faneuil, as the family worked on a mural to commemorate the day. “I miss him. My house is empty.”

What Are The Main Benefits Of Comparing Car Insurance Quotes Online

LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / June 24, 2020, / Compare-autoinsurance.Org has launched a new blog post that presents the main benefits of comparing multiple car insurance quotes. For more info and free online quotes, please visit https://compare-autoinsurance.Org/the-advantages-of-comparing-prices-with-car-insurance-quotes-online/ The modern society has numerous technological advantages. One important advantage is the speed at which information is sent and received. With the help of the internet, the shopping habits of many persons have drastically changed. The car insurance industry hasn't remained untouched by these changes. On the internet, drivers can compare insurance prices and find out which sellers have the best offers. View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
