Two people were rescued after a US military helicopter crashed near the coast of Oman, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said in a message on X.
“On June 8 at 7:33 p.m. ET, two crew members of a U.S. Army AH-64 Apache were rescued by U.S. forces after their helicopter crashed near the coast of Oman while patrolling regional waters,” the CENTCOM post noted Tuesday morning.
“The soldiers were rescued in approximately two hours and are in stable condition. The cause of the incident is under investigation,” the message continued. “The rescue efforts were led by U.S. Naval Forces Central Command and the 82nd Airborne Division, with support from U.S. Air Force and Navy units, including Task Force 59 of the U.S. 5th Fleet.”

CENTCOM spokesperson Captain Tim Hawkins confirmed to Fox News that the US crew members were rescued by an unmanned surface vehicle (USV). “It was an operational first for the American military,” he told Fox News.
The surface drone that assisted in last night’s rescue was a U.S. Navy Corsair unmanned surface vessel operated by Task Force 59 of the U.S. 5th Fleet, Hawkins told Fox News. The task force began deploying these drones into theater in late March, he said.
A senior US official informed Fox News: “Last night, an unmanned surface vessel (USV) from Task Force 59, the US Navy’s unmanned and artificial intelligence task force, was first on scene to rescue two crew members after their Apache helicopter crashed off the coast of Oman.
“To our knowledge, this is a world first: the first time that an unmanned surface vessel has directly participated in the rescue of downed crews. It is a striking example of how unmanned systems and AI provide real operational advantages,” the official continued.
“Created in 2021 by Admiral Cooper, Task Force 59 was designed to accelerate the integration of unmanned systems and AI into military operations. Last night’s rescue demonstrates how this vision has moved from concept to reality, with unmanned systems now playing a critical role in real-world missions, including helping save American lives,” the official noted.

“The pilots are OK,” President Donald Trump said Tuesday before CENTCOM issued a statement on the incident, “no one was injured.”
“We will issue a report tomorrow,” he said, reiterating that “the pilots are fine.”
The United States continues to conduct a blockade against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
“US forces disabled an empty tanker in the Gulf of Oman on June 8 after the vessel violated the current blockade against Iran by attempting to sail to an Iranian port,” a June 8 CENTCOM press release said.
“U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) disabled the Palau-flagged M/T Marivex while transiting international waters in the Gulf of Oman en route to Iran. An F/A-18 Super Hornet from the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) fired a precision munition into the ship’s engineering and piloting spaces after the crew failed to comply with instructions from U.S. forces. The Marivex is no longer sailing to Iran,” the statement continued.
Vice President JD VANCE Addresses the U.S.-Israel relationship and asks if Iran is trying to “play” with the United States.

“CENTCOM forces have neutralized seven non-compliant vessels, redirected 134 compliant vessels, and allowed passage to 42 vessels supporting humanitarian assistance since the blockade began on April 13,” CENTCOM added.
